ALBUM FULL METAL JACKET
LABEL NO REMORSE RECORDS
OUT May 29th, 2020
OUR RATING 83/100
On May 29th was out the long-awaited comeback of classic US metal band Shok Paris! FULL METAL JACKET is available on mighty NO REMORSE RECORDS.
Formed in 1982, the Cleveland based band, released their debut on Auburn Records two years later, following up with 2 more albums before the split at the end of the 80s.
Now, 31 years later, after “Concrete Killers” and appearances at Bang Your Head, Up The Hammers, Keep It True and Headbangers Open Air, “Full Metal Jacket” is out with eleven tracks (plus one bonus, the brilliant UP THE HAMMERS), a great example of oldschool classic metal with eighties hook laden riffs, melodic hooks and catchy choruses.
Today SHOK PARIS are led by founder members, lead guitarist Ken Erb and singer Vic Hix, helped by John Korzekwa on guitar, Ed Stephens on bass and Donovan Kenaga on drums.
After an intro the first shot is the title track, squared and classic, followed by NATURE OF THE BEAST, so eighties, with effective vocals, both epic and biting when it needs, and with a smart texture enriched by an inspired solo.
A roaring bass and a pressing drums, vocals full of emphasis, a strong song which provides the right dose of musicality.
All sounds great in METAL ON METAL before anthemic BROTHERS IN ARMS, a track dedicated to all true defenders.
BLACK BOOTS starts strong and pressing, going on with several solutions and a blistering solo, followed by DO OR DIE, maybe a step behind.
Brilliant THOSE EYES, while FALL FROM GRACE is one of our favs.
More and grandiloquent the last SYMPHONY OF THE SEA which ends in the best way this welcome return.
