ALBUM DEAD THE END

OUR RATING 83/100
R.I.P from Portland, OR are ready to unleash a new album entitled DEAD END, available on October 8th, 2020 on Riding Easy Records
DEAD END is a confirm of the best shape of the band, which provides their doom Hm, influenced by several solutions, ranging from John Carpenter films to post-apocalyptic grunge.
During the three years since the 2017 release of their sophomore album Street Reaper, R.I.P. has been busy tightening their sound and their line up while loosening their grip on sanity — touring the west coast with bands like Electric Wizard and Red Fang, and taking Street Doom overseas for the first time for a month long headlining tour of Europe.
These years on the road and the addition of a stronger rhythm section have allowed the band to fully break free from their influences and deliver on the promise hinted at on their first two releases.
For Dead End, R.I.P. worked with producer Billy Anderson, continuing to move further away from their classic doom influences, the band was able to provide somethin original and truly own.
After an intro, the first shot is JUDGEMENT NIGHT, a song enhanced by pressing drums, roaring bass, dirty riffing and vocals which are a real added value; a Sabbath touch but with more speed.
The following track is the title track, again with great solo parts, while NIGHTMARE is another ace, both pressing and embracing .
ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE is darker and struggled, followed by squared DEATH IS COMING.
Before an interlude entitled BURIED ALIVE, we can find effective and soulful MOMENT OF SILENCE, while OUT OF TIME and last DEAD OF NIGHT are maybe tunes that do not convince us.
ANYWAY..A BRILLIANT ALBUM..FINALLY A BAND OUT WITH SOMETHING SPECIAL AND DIFFERENT!!
Dead End will be available on LP, CD and download on October 9th, 2020 via RidingEasy Records.
