BAND BLACK KNIGHT
ALBUM ROAD TO VICTORY
LABEL PURE STEEL RECORDS
OUR RATING 85/100
Dutch band BLACK KNIGHT is ready to unleash its new album entitled ROAD TO VICTORY, out on PURE STEEL RECORDS on June 26th.
Founded in 1981, after two demos they were out with the debut ´Tales From The Darkside´ (1999) and its successor ´The Beast Inside´ (2007).
Now the only original member, drummer Rudo Plooy, has returned with a new mates and a new album, the abovementioned "Road To Victory".
Guitarist Gert Jan Vis (3RD MACHINE) was already involved in the nineties and bassist Ron Heikens (PROFOUND) has been with the band for some years too.
Guitarist Ruben Raadschelders and singer David Marcelis (LORD VOLTURE, THORIUM), on the other hand, joined more recently in 2017.
Their third full-length is rigged with classic heavy metal, enhanced by twin guitars that express the the eighties' flair in melodic runs and a singer who moves powerfully in medium and high pitches.
The first shot is the title track, so classic, with squared riffing, pressing drums, roaring bass and a Priests’ touch; solo parts are on high level; a great texture where vocals fits perfectly.
LEGEND is in classic mood too and shows good musicality and a clear production, real added values.
An instrumental attack open PENDRAGON, with riff’s texture more complex, while THOUSAND FACES is more epic and lilting and sows vocals on high pitches when it needs.
A strong and squared start to open my BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS, a song which grows second after second, with a soul almost prog and many solutions provided.
CROSSING THE RUBICON is more epic and grandiloquent, with epic solo parts and a right dose of emphasis.
PRIMAL POWER shows a strong metal heavy attitude, while great THE ONE TO BLAME ends in the great way this awaited return.
SURELY TO SUGGEST..ONE OF OUR CLASSIC HM HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR!
