BAND Atkins May Project
ALBUM THE FINAL CUT
LABEL DOG RUFF RECORDS
OUR RATING 80/100
After three full-lenght and an an anthology, now it’s time for a new chapter of ATKINS MAY PROJECT, entitled THE FINAL CUT.
Led by original singer of Judas Priest AL ATKINS and by PAUL MAY, who plays all instruments, this album is a studio project which won’t disappoint all listeners.
An interesting album with Al Atkins who delivers a strong vocal performance full of intensity.
We remind that Atkins is known as the original vocalist for Judas Priest with song writing credits on their first two albums Rocka Rolla & Sad Wings of Destiny, among others classic "Victim of Changes."
And you can find this mood throughout this platter..
The title track is present with two versions of on the track list, an intro and a full length.
The second one shows two parts, with the second really strong, classic HM with two solos to remarks.
You can find a blistering guitar solo in WHEN THE BELLS TOLLS too, which starts acoustic and with more lilting rhythms, enhanced by vocals always effectives.
If THE WAR IN-BETWEEN is powerful and classic reminding somethin from PRIESTS, TREADING WATER is so groovy with another great solo, a trademark of this album.
Squared and grandiloquent BURIED ALIVE while FIGHTING MAN is another example of classic HM, full of rhythm and with an embracing riffing.
We go on with more pressing and faster DEAD MENS BONES, one of our favs, while STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND shows a zeppelin’s flavour.
Again squared THE COLD WIND BLOWS while MASQUERADE is darker and enhanced by an embracing riff.
A GREAT RETURN..ANOTHER ALBUM TO SUGGEST!
