OUR RATING 85/100
ANGBAND from Iran are well-known for all PURE STEEL Group fans; the band from Teheran had been under contract since their debut “Rising From Apadana” (2008).
However, since 2012 ("Saved From The Truth") it went very quiet around them.
Now, on the upcoming album “IV”, none other than PHARAOH and CONTROL DENIED singer Tim Aymar takes over the microphone partly.
On this new work entitled IV, available on PURE UNDERGROUND RECORDS on July 24th, they are able to mix classic HM, Prog and Persian folklore in a unique way, founding again an own particular style.
FIGHTERS is the first shot with riff and bass lines squared and classic. A great solo, interesting and with good inspiration, and epic drops enrich the song.
VISIONS IN MY HEAD shows first exotic vibes, mixed with classic and progressives influences, while ATENA, on classic basement, is enriched by vocals effectives and grandiloquent.
MIRAGE confirms the pride for their native land mixed with an epic metal mood; always to remark fine textures and fancy solo parts.
More thoughtful and classy following NIGHTS OF TEHERAN, before heavier INSANE.
After CYRUS THE GREAT, CHILDREN OF WAR doesn’t push, while THE BLIND WATCHMAKER, opened by a soft arpeggio, ends in the best way this great platter which WE SUGGEST WITHOUT HESITATION.
