BAND Orodruin ALBUM RUINS OF ETERNITY LABEL CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC OUT 25/10/2019 OUR RATING 83/100 American doom legends Orodruin return with their first studio album in 16 years, Ruins of Eternity, available on Oct 25th via CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC. Sixteen years passed since Orodruin's lone studio album, Epicurean Mass. The album provides classic doom touch, with clear influences from masters such as Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus. Recorded throughout 2018 at Wicked Squid Studio, Ruins of Eternity is the Amazing outcome of a two-year songwriting of the band, who are now a trio after the departure of Waske with Puleo who pulled double-duty on the album and handled the drums. The album's cover art is the combination of various images pulled together by Gallo, including the Thomas Cole print "Expulsion of Eden." Since first FORSAKEN we can feel doom with seventies hard rock shades, riff is effective and we can appreciate twin guitar harmonies. More classic doom in MAN OF PEACE with rhythms more thoughtful; GRAVE ILLUSION is an another inspired shot with solo parts against to remind. LETTER OF LIFE'S REGREAT is really embracing while WAR ON THE WORLD shows a more complex strutture. If INTO THE LIGHT OF SUN is, in our opinion, a step behind, VOICE IN THE DARK provides many solutions, thanks to breaks, riff heavier and stronger and solo parts always amazing. HELL FROZEN OVER develops itself in the last slice after a sinister part while RUINS OF ETERNITY is another ace that ends in the best way this long awaited return! BRILLIANT..TO SUGGEST!!
