💿 Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to have on Hardrockheavymetal DANNY HYNES of WEAPON UK!! Welcome!! Thank you for inviting me Giovanni. 💿 On Sept 27th will be out your new platter called GHOST OF WAR. We have the chance to listening to it in preview and we were really impressed! Firstly, Can you tell us something about the meaning of the title and its composition process and style? It’s basically about street violence in the UK & America, stabbings and shottings in the street etc, etc, But also about arms dealers. the companies that supply guns THEY are the real Ghosts Of War! 💿Your new album is out via PURE STEEL RECORDS; Can you tell us somethin' about relationships with them? We have a good working relationship with them, especially Andreas Lorenz (Germany) and Bob Mitchel (USA) who are both Weapon fans.
💿 The NWOBHM scene seems absolutely alive and kickin’! Many bands have now the chance to publish new album, thing that for many of yours wasn’t possible in NWOBHM era. Why was so difficult for high quality bands as WEAPON have a good record deal at these times? It really is alive & kicking but it’s still difficult when it comes to live shows. There are far too many festivals with many bands playing for very little money! As for publishing new albums. Weapon were quite happy to release our albums independently but jumped at the chance to sign with Pure Steel as they offered to release it on vinyl, which can be expensive for bands to do. 💿 Can you tell us somethin'about the birth of your passion for music? Which bands and artists have influenced you the most in your early times? My particular influences are Steve Marriot (Small Faces/Humble Pie), Paul Rodgers (Free), Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Tom Jones! Not that I sound like any of them. 💿 The real “news” in music industry is the return of vinyl and cassette; what’s your feeling about these classic format and the current music “business”? There is nothing like listening to an album on vinyl. I love it and am so happy it’s back in style! Can you tell us somethin’ about your next live projects? We have the album launch show in London on Saturday 28th September followed by gigs in Belgium, Germany and Sweden. And are planning a bigger tour in 2020 to celebrate Weapon’s 40th anniversary, although we did take a 25-year break!
💿 You’re a brilliant musician with a lot of experience and you have the chance to share the stage with many artists and bands..Who were the craziest which you met? Thank you for the compliment. There is only one crazy band and that is/was Motorhead! As you’re probably aware, we supported them on their 32 date 1980 ‘Ace Up Your Sleeve’ Tour. A real-life changing experience! “Rock In Peace’ Lemmy, Phil & Eddie .
💿 Amazing cover for GHOST OF WAR! Can you tell us somethin'about? We tried a couple of artist before Andreas at Pure Steel suggested Agusto Peixoto @ IronDoomDesign who sent us an idea that wasn’t quite right for the title so after a few adjustments he came up with the cover you now see, which I think is awesome. 💿 Thank you so much for your time! See you soon on Hardrockheavymetal! Thank you, my friend. It’s been a pleasure. Danny Hynes Offical #pics Pure Steel Promotion Pure Steel Records
