BAND Blackmayne ALBUM SPAT FROM HELL LABEL Flicknife Records OUT 29/5/2019 OUR RATING 86/100 And finally was out the new album by BLACKMAYNE, one of the best cult underground nwobhm band that we know. SPAT FROM HELL, this is the title, is out for a few days and it contains eight songs plus two bonus tracks, among others a new version of TWILIGHT OF LEAR. They start with DON'T ENVY THE DEAD, epic and powerful, reminding us somethin' from Maiden/Blaze era. The production is not modern and riffs are effectives, solo is inspired..the right way to begin this platter. LEGIONS shows a more squared riffing before beginning heavier in the second slice while WOLF PACK is a more classic tune with the right epic flavour. DEAD OR ALIVE starts with a great attack, with roaring bass and pressing drums, perfect to be played live. They go on with TALE OF TWO CITIES, another classic shot with a riff that gets in your bones. SAD is more lifting while next THE MIGHTY ROSE reminds us somethin' from Thin Lizzy, developing itself second after second and showin' a central misty break. The last ace, not including bonus tracks, is SPAT FROM HELL, a real gem full of restarts and with a power that grows second after second.
WELL DOWN JOB BY THE BAND LED BY JULIAN SACKETT and PHIL McDERMOTT, KEEPING HIGH AT THEIR BEST THE FLAME OF NWOBHM TRADITION!!
