BAND Black Sheets Of Rain ALBUM IN THE EYE OF THE STORM (EP) LABEL W.A.R. PRODUCTIONS OUT 4/2019 OUR RATING 82/100 BLACK SHEETS OF RAIN are a power trio in the vintage mould, featuring David Nuttall (Drums/Vocals, ex Toy Dolls), Matt Lambourne (Bass / Vocals, ex Solomon Groove) and Rich Davenport (Guitar/Lead Vocals, ex See Red, Atomkraft). Songs from their debut EP was a positive received live supporting bands such as Eliminator, Seven Sisters and Conjuring Fate. The band members have played extensively over the years in the UK and abroad, and have worked on a number of self-released albums, singles and EPs in previous projects. They are currently arranging gigs to promote the release of their debut EP In The Eye Of The Storm in April 2019 on long-running Metal label W.A.R. Productions in 2019, with a view to following this with a full-length album in 2020. The EP features as guest vocal Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan (Venom Inc) on the track “No Rest”, and an introductory instrumental from labelmate Hugin from fantasy ambient Metal band Uruk Hai. The EP was produced by Tony Wilson, producer of Tommy Vance’s legendary Friday Rock Show, and of countless sessions for John Peel’s long-running BBC radio show. Lyrically, many of the songs' lyrics on are about surviving difficult times (Still Spark Something, Through The Storm, Force Of Habit.). The track Weight Of Shadows talks about the experience of dealing with depression, and will be released as a single in aid of Ian’s Chain, a charity which counsels those struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, and supports people who have lost a loved one to suicide. From STILL SPARK SOMETHING, the first time, the approach is classic..classic Hard Rock tipically British and the guitar solo is absolutely fancy. The abovementioned NO REST is darker and solemn while THROUGH THE STORM is a return to a more classic Hard Rock sound. Other two great songs are FORCE OF HABIT and WEIGHT OF SHADOWS with another great solo to remind. A GREAT STARTER, IN WAITIN FOR A FULL-LENGHT!!
