BAND BABYLON SHAKES
ALBUM EXILE TO THE VELVETEEN LOUNGE
OUR RATING 80/100 BABYLON SHAKES, another great name brought to us by HighVolMusic, are ready with their new album called EXILE TO THE VELVETEEN LOUNGE, out next Feb 1st.
They provide a visceral combination of sleaze, glam and hard rock that pulls from the glory days of 70s Hard Rock to the 1980s Sunset Strip' flavour. Vocalist and guitarist Chris Clark has a raspy delivery well-mixed with his his punk and bluesy guitar style; their sound is enriched by bassist Gary Jordan and drummer Jeff Mortimer (now line up is enriched by Dave Elmore on bass with Gary Jordan on guitars).
Armed with infectious songs and gypsy street fashion, this trio of veteran musicians are shaking things up in the mid Atlantic and the rest of the world is up next. 'Exile to the Velveteen Lounge', the new release by BABYLON SHAKES, is set for a February 1st release through HighVolMusic.
They starts with a MAKING A MILLION, in the best street hard rock's tradition, reminding us tasty vibes of Cinderella and Aerosmith, while anthemic Sunset Striptease says all in the title.
SIN PARADE shows a slinky sound, while NO PICTURES PLEASE is a great boogie-rock'n'roll, in the way of bands as QUIREBOYS, maybe without vocals so effective.
We goes on with sparkling VELVETEEN LIBERTINE and SILVER TONGUE DEVIL before lilting HARDTIMES.
DIE PRETTY is one of our favs, so perky, while STAR IN YOUR EYES is the more soft episode.
MOTEL LIGHTS is the final attack that ends in the best way this great platter.
