ALBUM TATTOED ON MY BRAIN
LABEL FRONTIERS MUSIC SRL
OUT Oct 12th, 2018
OUR RATING 80/100
New studio album (the 24th!) for classic Hard Rock band Nazareth 48 years the first self-titled platter end especially the first with Carl Sentance on vocals.
Carl Sentance is a well known name in classic Hard'n'Heavy history: from underrated NWOBHM band PERSIAN RISK, to Dario Mollo, Don Airey and many others.
The line-up is completed by original member PETE AGNEW on bass guitar, the son LEE AGNEW on drums (he has been in the band since 1999), Jimmy Murrison (with the band since 1995) on guitar.
Let's start from the end: TATTOED ON MY BRAIN is a great album, surely it doesn't pretend to invent nothin'new, but it's all right because all we're happy enough!
Sentance is a great singer, powerful and with right vibe and his contribution as composer on this album is absolutely relevant.
Honestly the only song that we don't fully appreciate is the title track, a little punky but a step behind the rest of the album.
There are ballads, as YOU CALL ME, a bit "progressive", which features some very nice guitar's work from Murrison, and CHANGE, more "poppy"; RUBIK'S ROMANCE is closer to country in its first slice.
Surely they are able to be versatile on their albums, but we prefer them when they are more rockin' as in POLE TO POLE, in THE SECRET IS OUT or in NEVER DANCE WITH THE DEVIL.
Anyway a fancy album that we suggest!
