For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is the 9th studio full-lenght by Van Halen, out in 1991 via Warner Bros. Records.
It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and maintained the position for three weeks. Van Halen worked on this album between March 1990 and April 1991.
The album signed the "return" to Van Halen's hard rock roots, with most songs being guitar driven, and the synth sounds being replaced by piano.
The band reconciled at this time with Ted Templeman, the well-known producer.
